Yak Shack
My intention is to have this News page be a place to record major farm milestones, but we’re so busy getting so much done that I’m always behind. So here’s to catching up!
This past weekend we achieved a major milestone, collapsing the doublewide mobile home we've been demolishing since March.
It has been a momentous and dirty job, but Nick knew it could be done and has made it happen.
We decided to remove the structure by hand in order to hopefully save the beautiful wooden hay loft structure that had been around it and to limit the amount of debris left behind.
Sunday the vision took a major leap forward! The hay loft withstood all the jostling and with the doublewide down you can see just how amazing the loft structure is.
There is still a lot of work to be done to remove all the building material that is left and remove the trailer itself, but now it's clear that the final product/open loft is worth it.
Once the doublewide is completely removed then we will begin to enclose the loft, turning it into a new barn which will give us the hay storage we need as well as additional shelter for yaks.
This farm started with a yak dream and we are so looking forward to getting there.
In the meantime, back to work!
